How do you tell tenants that you’re going to sell your house?
This can be a difficult conversation to have… especially if you’re worried that your tenants will get upset or lash out after you tell them.
But we’ve worked with tons of different homeowners in the Triad of NC and here are some helpful tactics for breaking the news to your tenants.
Be Open & Honest — Try to be as open and honest with your tenants as possible about what is going to happen. Will they have to move? Can they stay? When will they need to leave for showings? If your tenants are willing to cooperate, that will make everything a whole lot easier.
Get Clear About Their Lease — You’ll need to look at the lease your tenants have in order to figure out what’s going to happen to them. Do you want them to leave or are they allowed to stay? Be upfront with what is going to happen in this regard.
Ask For Their Cooperation — Be honest and simply ask for your tenant’s cooperation. If you’re reasonable and they’re reasonable, then it shouldn’t be that big of a deal and they should be more than happy to help you out.
Call Us If Things Get Dicey — Not all tenants are going to be pleased about this news, unfortunately. Some will even lash out and destroy your property. If things get out of hand, give us a call at (336)234-2323. We can buy your property as-is and even deal with evicting your tenants if necessary.
